DRS Data & Research Services plc

Chairman's Trading Statement

Annual General Meeting

Monday 12th May 2008- 3.00pm

The Chairman read out the following statement at the start of the AGM today:

The DRS Group sales for 2008 are promising although no significant election projects are expected this year. Election work, when it occurs normally contributes to the first half turnover, yielding an exceptional turnover in 2007. Census work is currently very positive with DRS Data Services Limited engaged in census activity in Ethiopia, Sudan and Malawi during 2008.

The market conditions faced by Peladon Software Inc in the USA have eased and sales prospects to the financial services marketplace are improving. Our reseller network, which now includes some prominent US software houses, is also benefiting from improved sales prospects.

Preparations are well underway for the AQA summer series examination marking work which is due to commence in the next few days. Script volumes are expected to be approximately 40% greater than last year. Revenue from this work will be recognised in the second half of the year.

Without the large volume of election work undertaken in 2007, this year's pattern of sales is expected to be similar to 2006, although the annual turnover is expected to be slightly ahead of the 2006 figure of £16.7m.

The Board is pleased with the progress on new products in the UK Education and International Voter Registration markets and feels confident about the Group's trading position.
