DRS Data & Research Services Plc Annual General Meeting Statement

The Chairman of DRS, Malcolm Brighton, made the following statement at the Annual General Meeting held today:

Following the successful acquisition of the two Peladon companies, work has commenced on integrating them into the newly formed DRS Group. A good start was made to the new year by completing the Nigerian Census contract during January, followed by Scottish Election trials in February and March which, alongside normal ongoing business resulted in Q1 2006 turnover reaching £4m.

Q2 2006 is progressing well with successful e-counting elections in Westminster and Lewisham and completion of the acceptance phase of the Scottish Executive contract for the 2007 Scottish elections. The rest of the quarter looks positive as we prepare for the main summer series examination marking with AQA and other awarding bodies.

Expenditure remains high with continued development on DRS' suite of software products used in elections and examination services, and set-up costs associated with Peladon joining DRS. Overall current trading is ahead of last year.
