Annual General Meeting Statement

16th May 2005

The Chairman of DRS, Malcolm Brighton, made the following statement at the Annual General Meeting held today:-

"As stated in the 2004 Annual Report, the Board expected 2005 to show a very different profile for DRS from previous years. To date, there has been no repetition of the GLA work carried out in 2004; infrastructure costs have been increased to support the e-Marker(R) development; and traditional business has not grown substantially, despite encouraging sales of our top-end scanner, the PS900. As previously stated, the Board expect that there will be a trading loss in the first half of 2005.

The development and sales of new educational products and services is progressing according to expectation. Live trials of e-Marker(R) during examinations in the first part of the year have gone well and we are optimistic that the process will fulfil performance expectations. As a direct result of these successful trials, the first major use of e-Marker(R) is for a significant part of the summer series of national examinations which commence next week."
