DRS to launch secure, scalable, multi-channel voting for statutory elections at 19th ACEEEO conference

03rd September 2010

Leading election specialist DRS is to launch a secure, scalable, multi-channel voting solution for statutory elections at the 19th Annual Conference and General Assembly meeting of the Association of European Election Officials (ACEEEO) to be held in Tbilisi, Georgia from 9th to 11th September 2010.

DRS has partnered with e-voting expert Mi-Voice to deliver the electronic voting solution, Electorate, which has been designed to achieve greater engagement and increased participation, as well as reduce administration costs and facilitate ‘direct democracy’.

With large scale election technologies successfully deployed all around the world, DRS has a reputation for reliability; aiming to reduce the administrative burden of statutory and non-statutory elections, whilst ensuring the security, integrity and accuracy of the results.  Now, in partnership with Mi-Voice, DRS can provide best in class ‘connected’ voting solutions, via the internet, Interactive Voice Response (IVR) and touch screen kiosks, in addition to traditional paper ballots.

Fully Electoral Mark-up Language (EML) compliant, the electronic voting solution can be integrated easily with existing electoral roll management software and used in conjunction with paper and postal voting. The security of the system is highly robust, including features such as pre-encrypted ballots that are unique to each voter, real time response codes that confirm the voter’s choices at the time of the vote and optional receipt functionality that can inform a voter that their vote has been counted and for whom. There is also a comprehensive audit module that is integrated with an independent third party system to ensure validation of any action taken on the system and a range of authentication protocols for administrators and voters alike.

Developed in accordance with the European Council’s guidelines, the electronic voting solution provides a high level of security, enhanced usability, comprehensive functionality, maximum flexibility and options for integration.

The ACEEEO conference brings together experts and heads of election management bodies to discuss how to strengthen good governance through the guidance of democratic elections. DRS will be exhibiting its full suite of e-counting and e-voting solutions at the conference.
