Pakistan Census project win couples with DRS’ 40th year in business
Celebrating its 40th year in business, global data capture specialist DRS has won the award of a contract from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to supply its world beating census solutions for the next Population Census in Pakistan - the 6th most populous country in the world.
DRS was awarded the contract after obtaining the highest combined financial and technical scores during the tender process.
The contract will be for the 6th census of the population across Pakistan and will involve the capture and processing of the census data using DRS Intelligent Character Recognition technologies.
DRS has been processing sensitive data capture projects around the world for the past four decades and has been involved in the successful delivery of past population censuses in Australia, Zambia, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Cameroon, Nigeria, Sudan, Ethiopia and Malawi.
Its knowledge in the census market is unrivalled and DRS is considered to be a trusted advisor to the United Nations, sharing its knowledge and expertise at a number of international UN Statistics Division workshops.
More recently DRS Global Business Leader in Census, Andy Tye, was asked to develop an independent technical report on census data capture methodology for the 2010 World Population and Housing Census Programme to help countries in the planning of their next population and housing census.
