New attack on reducing Police bureaucracy and improving efficiency
One day DRS Conference - 22nd March 2006, Tower of London
Aimed at senior officers and staff involved or tasked with improving efficiency, controlling bureaucracy and improving operational availability, this one day conference, hosted by DRS and run in association with APPSS, will explore the key issues surrounding these vital and high profile issues.
By September 2005, thirty-seven of the fifty-two recommendations made in the report of Sir David O’Dowd’s Police Bureaucracy Taskforce had been implemented and individual forces were being encouraged to set up their own gateways to influence the demands imposed locally. But is this proving practical? Is the service realising the real benefits of efficiency from workforce modernisation or does it still see bureaucracy as simply struggling with the red tape, endless form filling and paper pushing?
Key speakers include Jan Berry, Chairman of the Police Federation, Jim McBeth of the Home Office, James Parfree, staff officer of the HMIC and Rob Gilchrist of Nottinghamshire Police, all of which will explore and debate these issues with delegates during the conference. Chaired by Sir Edward Crew, the event will tackle the challenges of reducing inefficient working practices, supporting the cutting of bureaucracy within the police service, improving efficiency through implementing effective and efficient technology and streamlining and improving accuracy of the data capture process. A demonstration of the latest data capture technology, including mobile data capture, will also be available for delegates.
Attendance is FREE to government and police personnel. For more information download the booking form from the 'forthcoming events' page (link at the top of this page), or contact the DRS marketing department on 01908 666088 or email bookings@drs.co.uk to reserve a place.
