Helping LEAs meet the challenges of Coordinated Admissions
Break free from the administrative burden of the Admissions process.
DRS will be hosting an exclusive event for anyone involved in the school admissions process. The second in a series of DRS admissions workshops will be held on Wednesday 1st December at the prestigious London Zoo, and will provide the opportunity for LEAs from around the country to discuss, share and examine the issues surrounding the gathering and processing of data in order to deliver coordinated admissions. A variety of guest speakers will provide an insight into best practice in this challenging area including DfES, Buckinghamshire LEA and Education Bradford. Capita, Arete, Foundation and RM will also be on hand to answer any questions regarding admissions MIS issues.
LEAs across the country are under increasing pressure from the government to process parental forms more quickly than ever before. After the School Standards and Framework Act in 2002 and the advent of the Common Application Form, the traditional manual procedure for handling parental preferences has been thrown into the limelight. It is a slow, expensive and error prone process and is no longer compatible with the needs of today’s admissions teams. As the volume of admissions data is expected to increase significantly next year with the inclusion of primary school parental preferences, the new regulations demand a faster and more effective way to meet the challenges of coordinated admissions.
With the known difficulties and inaccuracies associated with manual data entry and with LEAs now needing to handle larger volumes of parental preference forms, admission teams need to ensure this data is captured fast, accurately and securely. DRS fully appreciates the need to work in partnership with LEAs to find a suitable cost-effective solution to process and manage this complex, time-critical exercise to help ensure conformity with the official Code of Practice, and is pleased to provide the forum where these issues can be explored.
Places are limited so if you would like to attend, simply contact DRS on 01908 666088 or e-mail bookings@drs.co.uk. Alternatively, download the booking form on the forthcoming events tab at the top of this page.
NOTES FOR EDITORS
DRS is working with a number of LEAs throughout the country to streamline the process of delivering coordinated admissions within the tight timeframes stipulated by the DfES. From specialist form design and production to using the latest technology to electronically capture and verify parental preference forms, delegates at this workshop will be able to hear how the administrative burden of processing admissions data can be reduced through automating and streamlining the admissions cycle.
