Media Alert - DRS supports Bichard Inquiry findings
DRS today announced its support for the Bichard Inquiry that was published last week following the Soham murders case. Highlighting the inaccuracies of police record keeping and failures in the handling and sharing of intelligence, the report recommends the implementation of a new national Police IT system to increase the effectiveness and accuracy of police records.
“The police service is under increasing pressure to collect and record data from just about all aspects of policing both quickly and accurately,” commented Tony Lee managing director, DRS. “This has put a huge strain on the already stretched administrative resource. The Bichard Inquiry highlights these structural inefficiencies which ultimately plays a crucial role in aiding the operational decision making process. It is important that the police service understands the consequences and finds a way to readdress this issue as a matter of urgency.”
Through its range of sophisticated automated public sector data capture solutions, DRS is working in partnership with police authorities throughout the country in improving the accuracy and standard of data, ensuring greater turnaround times and reducing the need for administrative staff to key data into computer systems.
If you would like to speak to DRS about data capture technology for the police service please contact Rekha Voralia at the DRS press office on 01908 423760 or pressoffice@drs.co.uk
