Troubled LEA Earns DRS Accreditation

25th April 2001

Bradford LEA is facing drastic measures following the OFSTED inspection, including outsourcing LEA services and other external partner-based approaches to the delivery of services to schools.

Private company, DRS Data & Research Services plc has been working with Bradford LEA in helping it improve pupil attendance and raise standards through setting and monitoring meaningful targets. DRS has provided its optical mark recognition technology enabling schools to capture pupil attendance and assessment information. Bradford LEA will now be able to target improvements throughout the city, its schools are now able to monitor assessment data and provide improved management and reporting, helping to adhere to the challenging school improvement targets.

Bradford LEA has now been awarded official accreditation as a DRS service agent following comprehensive training on the operational maintenance of the technology. Bradford LEA, fully supported by DRS engineering expertise, is now able to directly provide first line support to its primary and secondary schools for the DRS range of Optical Mark Readers in use.

The new support unit located in the Council Offices in Bradford was officially opened on 24th April 2001 by Malcolm Brighton OBE, Chairman of DRS Data & Research Services plc and Diana Cavanagh, Bradfords Strategic Director of Education and Schools.

Bradford LEA and DRS have been working together since 1992.
