DRS to launch TAMS support tool at Education Show 22-24 March 2001

01st March 2001

DRS Data & Research Services plc has exclusively designed the forms to work with TAMS (Target-setting, Assessment and Monitoring System). TAMS is a brand new valuable special needs product which enables teachers and carers to bring about positive changes in emotional, social and behavioural difficulties amongst pupils.

TAMS has been developed in conjunction with Trinity Special School, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and a number of LEAs and will be launched on the DRS stand at the Education Show, 22-24 March 2001, NEC Birmingham.

Although TAMS is designed primarily for Special Schools, it will be of interest to all those involved in supporting pupils with Special Needs. TAMS is designed to be used in conjunction with DRS OMRs (Optical Mark Readers) and specially designed forms, which DRS will be launching at the Show. By using the DRS OMR and TAMS forms, it makes it possible for teachers and carers to simply and easily:

  • Provide assessment criteria and a behavioural lexicon that enables teachers to describe pupils’ emotional and behavioural development and to demonstrate progress.
  • Develop a diagnostic tool that provides data for setting meaningful individual, group, site and whole school targets to raise achievement in the areas of emotional, social and behavioural development.
  • Provide value added and other comparative analysis data that can provide evidence and suggestions for school improvement, pupil re-integration, and statementing process.
  • Provide a basis for understanding the complex interactions involved in behaviour.
