DRS Identireg for voter registration

Voter Registration
DRS Identireg is a hand-held, portable data capture device that collects photographic and fingertip biometric data during the voter registration process. Barcode reading is used to relate captured biometrics to associated information completed on the uniquely barcoded forms.Fingertip verification can be used at registration time, when biometrics are first captured, to prevent fraudulent attempts at multiple registration on the same device.
Identireg works in partnership with an existing form-based data collection approach, adding the ability to cost-effectively collect biometric data, with the advantage of having a record of every registration through the paper-based registration systems. This information is then used to validate the voter’s registration application.
Validation
The biometric information is directly linked to the paper-based registration form via the barcode printed on the form.Once this data is uploaded to the Election Office database, a voter list is generated for each polling station. When the voter enters the Polling Station they can be identified either by placing their finger, or by scanning wither voter card through the Identireg device. A photo will be displayed for officials to validate the voter, ensuring the risks of fraudulent or duplicated votes are eradicated.
Data from multiple registration sites can also be cross-checked at a central facility to detect multiple registrations at multiple locations before generating validated voter lists.
