DRS e-Registration - Real-time Reporting & 14-19 Diplomas

Keeping students safe with real-time and accurate attendance data

Real–time reporting

As announced by Jim Knight, Minister of State for Schools and Learners at BETT 2008, all secondary schools will be expected to offer parents real-time access to information covering achievement, progress, attendance, behaviour and special needs, and where appropriate secure online access, by September 2010.  This will allow parents and children the ability to review this information when and where they like.

To help prepare for this, from the start of the new school year in September 2008 all secondary schools will be expected to provide this information to parents on a timely and frequent basis, at least once a term.  Primary schools are expected to meet basic ‘once a term’ reporting by 2010 and offer more advanced reporting in real-time by 2012.

The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) continues to promote the use of e-Registration in schools because of its benefits in efficiently monitoring pupil’s attendance and the speedy retrieval and analysis of data.

As specialists in electronic registration solutions, DRS has been working with thousands of schools across the country, and is able to provide the very best technologies and services designed specifically for the unique demands of e-Registration, whether to BSF projects or to established schools and academies.

The DRS IntelliReg® suite can interface seamlessly with the school MIS providing real-time update of data for accurate attendance monitoring whilst saving teaching time, and can be combined with access control, cashless catering, smart copiers, library systems and SMS to students and parents to help combat truancy.

14-19 Diplomas

The introduction of the 14-19 Diplomas will require more student movement across Key Stage 4 and Post 16.  Being able to track attendance at off-site learning providers, be they educational or non-educational institutions will be of significant importance for all schools.

DRS is already working with Local Authorities, providing its IntelliReg® suite of solutions to track and monitor attendance for students attending and learning at more than one institution, whether it is a school, college or work based learning provider.

IntelliReg® allows student attendance to be tracked off-site and for the resulting data to be automatically recorded and seamlessly transmitted back to the ‘home school’ or college Management Information System and dynamically linked into the attendance record of that student.
