The use of OMR still requires a great deal of teacher involvement with the completion of paper-based OMR forms.  After manual registration is taken, the attendance and registration forms are scanned at a time when it is convenient, and the data is fed into the school MIS only at that time. There is no real-time information available using this data capture method.

Physical costs of paper forms, on-going updates, support and maintenance of classroom PCs are quantifiable and these costs can be eliminated. Staff across the whole school can concentrate their efforts on more productive activities rather than manually taking the register or spending time looking and sorting through inaccurate and unreliable attendance data.
