DRS IntelliReg(r) dramatically streamlines Whitburn Church Of England School registration process

The newly built Whitburn Church Of England School in Sunderland has dramatically streamlined its registration and attendance process since implementing DRS’ IntelliReg®.

Education technology provider DRS installed its biometric e-Registration solution in 56 classrooms and changing rooms around the school to help deliver lesson level registration. As a result, Whitburn School now has clean, instant, accurate and consistent data that monitors student whereabouts whilst providing the opportunity of real time information for parents.

Whitburn School reports that the lesson level registration data also has the potential to aid academic mentoring by highlighting any students that may regularly arrive late to a particular subject, suggesting there may be a potential issue that needs investigation. Thanks to the monitoring provided by the DRS IntelliReg®, such students can now be identified more easily.

DRS IntelliReg® has also saved Whitburn School valuable teaching time at the start of every lesson – a key benefit in light of Teacher Workforce Reform calling for teaching staff to reduce the time spent on administrative tasks. It also means more constructive time can be spent on teaching and learning.

DRS IntelliReg® is just one part of the best in class Integrated Education Solution that Whitburn School has implemented. DRS, together with its ‘best of class’ partners, Biostore and CRB Solutions, has also provided a cashless system to manage the School’s catering. The library also makes use of the Biostore database with Microsoft Eclipse software. The new system has provided greater security for students and more flexibility for parents.

Joyce Gibson, deputy headteacher at Whitburn School comments: “The DRS IntelliReg® system is state of the art, efficient and matches our 21st century school. We are seeing real benefits for our already outstanding school in having access to even more management data through the use of the system, as well as streamlining the whole registration process.

'DRS, CRB and the Biostore database are proving invaluable in our brand new state of the art building. The pupils can efficiently use the library, have their lunch and register for every lesson using the central biometric database with huge reduction in staff time and possibility of human error.”
