Automating processes for The Bradford Group
The Bradford Group reduces overheads and improves efficiency with DocXP™.
Established in 1973, the Bradford Exchange is the world's leading collectible plate company.
The Bradford Exchange's pioneering mission of locating the finest collector's plates around the world, and bringing news of them directly into collector's homes, was an immediate triumph. In fact, such was the success of this venture that within a few years, The Bradford Exchange set up companies across Europe and Australia to satisfy the intense demand.
Since then, their quest for quality collectables has expanded to include a diverse range of items available through six affiliated companies, collectively named The Bradford Group. The Bradford Group has set new standards across the entire collectables field, offering a wide choice of plates, dolls, music boxes, tankards, teddy bears, jewellery and ornaments of the highest quality and value.
Fast expansion puts pressure on order and payment processing
The Bradford Group was experiencing a problem keeping up with the manual input of the thousands of customer payments, orders and returns received each week. Manual processing of these documents was proving to be extremely draining on both time and resource, not to mention the inaccuracy of some of the data captured. The logistical nightmare of storing the paper forms and accessing single documents was also causing The Bradford Group problems.
DocXP™ ADC automates and improves process
Concerned that these issues may cause customer dissatisfaction The Bradford Group set about a thorough evaluation of the market for an automated data capture solution. DocXP™ Automatic Data Capture (ADC) was selected for its ease of use and speed of document and data processing, coupled with the best return on investment.
After The Bradford Group scan the payments, orders or returns, DocXP™ ADC is utilised to capture, validate and output both the customer and payment information. A printed reference similar to the MICR line on a cheque is used to identify the customer details. The customer's preferred payment method and even their credit card details can be captured from the form using DocXP™ ADC.
Cheque processing is a breeze with DocXP™
Where the selected payment method is a cheque, the DocXP™ cheque processing add-on is employed to capture the payment amount. The payment amount from postal orders is also captured in this way. This actual payment amount is validated against the required payment amount and discrepancies are routed for further investigation. A multi-file output is then produced by DocXP™ to export the data which is then imported into The Bradford Group's billing system.
DocXP™ contributes to a more efficient ordering and payment system
The DocXP™ ADC solution enables all of The Bradford Group's payments, orders and returns to be processed on the day of receipt. In fact this time saving has contributed greatly to the amount of orders and payments that can be processed per hour. Customer Services have also received fewer queries since DocXP™ has been implemented, demonstrating improved customer satisfaction.
“Since implementing DocXP, we have reduced our overheads and increased productivity” Nigel Kendrick, Managing Director, The Bradford Group
